How ssp can prevent burnout

This is the first exercise we post based on the Polyvagal theory. These exercises will help you become more familiar with your body and nervous system. In addition to these exercises, we also offer a course in combination with the Safe and Sound Protocol. You can expect a new exercise every week, come back regularly if these are meaningful to you.

Polyvagal Exercise Explanation:

It has long been known that nature is a reliable way to get into your ventral energy. The sounds and images of nature have a regulatory effect on our bodies. Staying too long in an environment without greenery produces stress and eventually symptoms.

Seeing the repeating patterns reflected in waves, clouds, leaves, shells and flowers have a strong regulatory effect on our autonomic nervous system. Getting in touch with nature after experiencing a stressful situation is helpful in restoring your ventral state. This makes nature a good and readily available resource that you can learn to use to learn to regulate.

How do you do this exercise?

Find a place in nature, in your own environment, that feels welcoming to you. Look at the patterns you see in these places and which ones catch your attention. Examine which patterns are meaningful to you and which you feel relaxation in your body. Listen for the sounds that catch your attention. In this way, create a collection of images that make the restorative power of nature palpable to you.

Additional tips for increased effectiveness

Try to connect yourself with nature in different ways. If you cannot physically go into nature, use other ways. Be creative in this; using VR glasses, for example, gives access to many different images. Listening to nature sounds can also help or watching a documentary. Be creative and find a way that suits you!
